Lance Culjat, originally from Omaha, NE, earned his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Biology from the University of Chicago, where he was a competitive swimmer on the varsity team. Following graduation, Lance spent a year in Kansas City, MO, mentoring high school students interested in healthcare and under-represented in medicine, while also serving as an assistant swim coach for the Empire KC Swim Club. In 2020, Lance was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy.

He pursued his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated as Valedictorian. During medical school, Lance was actively involved in leadership roles, serving as Vice President of his school’s LGBTQ+ organization and founding the Latino Medical Student Association Chapter at USU.

As of May 2024, Lance has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and is undertaking his Neurosurgery residency at the University of Florida, with an expected completion date in 2031. In his spare time, he remains passionate about swimming, exploring the local springs, and tending to his fruit trees.
