Kaitlyn Barkley, MD grew up in Wyoming, Delaware. She earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Delaware in 2013. While there, she began working as a Teaching Assistant for courses in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude.
Dr. Barkley attended medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) in Philadelphia, PA. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) as a junior and graduated magna cum laude. Continuing her passion for education, Dr. Barkley worked during medical school as a tutor for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Additionally, she developed study and practice materials for the MCAT and NBME Shelf Exams. She also completed research projects related to medical education, stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, spinal fusion, deep brain stimulation, and endovascular neurosurgery.
Kaitlyn began her neurosurgical training at the University of Florida in 2017 and is scheduled to complete her training in 2024. Outside of medicine, Dr. Barkley enjoys vacationing with her fiancé, Scotty, whom she met in high school. She also loves to spoil her dog, Albus, and two guinea pigs, Shelby and Saleen.
