Biography
Shawna Amini was born in Norman, Oklahoma and moved to Gainesville when she was 4 years old. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree is Photography and Microbiology and a Master’s Degree in Public Health.
Shawna started her career in clinical research as a volunteer at the University of Florida in 2013 for the PeCAN Program. Over the course of her career and time with PeCAN, she became lead clinical research coordinator in the Department of Anesthesiology, PeCAN division. During her time there, Shawna managed the PeCAN research staff, multiple R01 grants, assisted with program development, data management, statistics, grant writing, and IRB submissions.
Shawna joined the Department of Neurosurgery in January 2023 as primary clinical research coordinator for the Endovascular Division where she coordinates multiple clinical trials.
