Biography
Dr. Yuanqing Lu has over 20 years of basic laboratory research experience and has authored nearly 36 publications at UF. He brings a wealth of expertise to our group, spanning both basic and clinical sciences, including molecular cloning, AAV-based gene therapy, advanced animal surgical techniques, generation of transgenic mouse models of liver disease, and investigation of molecular mechanisms. He earned his MD and MS degrees, followed by postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Hematology at Harbin Medical University in China, before launching his postdoctoral research career in the UF Department of Pharmaceutics in 2003. He was promoted to Assistant Scientist in 2009. Since 2014, Dr. Lu has been investigating alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency mechanisms and treatments, including AAV-mediated gene therapy, in the laboratory of Dr. Mark Brantly. He was promoted to Research Assistant Professor in 2022. In 2024, Dr. Lu joined the laboratory of Dr. Rinonos in the Department of Neurosurgery, where he is eager to apply his expertise to advance discoveries in the field of neuro-oncology.
