Biography
Dr. Sriharan joined the Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at University of Florida Shands in July 2019 as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He completed his medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, Ireland graduating with an MBBCh (Honors) in 1990. Dr. Sriharan also received the J.J. Fitzsimmons Gold Medal in Surgery, the Sir William Wheeler Memorial Medal in Surgery, the Leonard Abrahamson Gold Medal in Medicine, the McDonnell Prize in Surgery and the Lyons Memorial Medal in Medicine. He completed a combined medicine and surgery internship at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Dr. Sriharan then completed a residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Alberta Hospitals and Clinics in Edmonton, Alberta where he also completed an enfolded Master of Science in Experimental Surgery. The Masters research and thesis was on the use of a viral vector in viral mediated gene therapy in a large animal glioma model. Dr. Sriharan then went on to complete a Complex Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin under Dr. Sanford Larson and Dr. Dennis Maiman. Dr. Sriharan is Board Certified in Neurological Surgery by the American Board of Neurological surgery and Specialist Certified in Neurosurgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Sriharan was on faculty at the University of Toronto, Department of Neurosurgery, before going into practice in Windsor, Ontario. He then practiced for 10 years at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Michigan and Mercy St. Vincent’s, Toledo prior to coming to Gainesville. Dr. Sriharan’s current primary focus is on spine disorders.
