Biography
Dr. Tafel serves as a Regional Programs Network Physician in the department’s practice at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, FL. He was a third-generation industrial machinery mechanic until enrolling in medical school. He attended residency at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital/Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his residency, he worked on nerve regeneration and the fabrication of advanced materials for medical applications at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Tafel continued his studies by completing a fellowship in complex spine surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Tafel’s clinical interests include spine surgery. He has training in degenerative disorders of the spine, spinal cord tumors, spinal deformity, and minimally invasive spine surgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time at the beach with his family.
