Seth F. Oliveria, MD, PhD.

Seth F. Oliveria, MD, PhDSeth F. Oliveria, MD, PhD graduated with honors from Linfield College in McMinnville, OR before earning both his MD and PhD from the University of Colorado while participating in the Medical Scientist Training Program. His doctoral thesis, funded by an NIH NRSA predoctoral fellowship, focused on the biophysics of neuronal L-type calcium channel regulation and nuclear signaling and resulted in several prominent publications. He has presented his research at many international scientific meetings and has been the recipient of an assortment of competitive meeting and research awards. During medical school he organized the National MD/PhD Student Conference and served for two years as a voting member of the MSTP admissions committee.

Dr. Oliveria began his neurosurgical residency at UF in 2010 and is scheduled to complete the program in 2017. He plans to pursue a career in academic neurosurgery and is particularly intrigued by functional neurosurgery and surgical treatment of epilepsy. His ongoing research interests are broad and include neuroprosthetics and the pathophysiology of stroke and epilepsy.

Seth is married and owns a beagle. He enjoys photography, racquetball and various outdoor activities like snowboarding and hiking.
