The Surgical Research Training Laboratory (SRTL) is located in the McKnight Brain Institute on the University of Florida (UF) campus in Gainesville, Florida. Managed by the UF Department of Neurosurgery, the SRTL was established as a .hands-on center. to teach anatomy, and advanced surgical techniques and to demonstrate the latest in operative instrumentation. The SRTL is available for rental 7 days a week for individuals, academic institutions and companies training their own personnel.
The SRTL has been the site for numerous courses and educational workshops, covering a wide variety of medical areas including neurosurgery, orthopaedics, anesthesia and pain management, interventional radiology and general, vascular and maxillofacial surgery and has been utilized by surgeons from across the United States and abroad. We are able to customize courses to meet your individual requirements and have the staff and resources available to assist you in all aspects of course arrangements, including local accommodations, specimen procurement, instrumentation and equipment.

Facilities:
The SRTL facility is approx. 1700 sq. feet and can be configured with either 8 large or 16 smaller workstations, capable of supporting dissections of full cadaver or smaller preparatio ns respectively. Each work station includes the following:
- Carl Ziess operative microscope with video output.
- A "Single chip" overhead camera with remote controlled pan, zoom and focus.
- Portable high resolution "three chip" camera using "Sky Eye" or equivalent system.
- A 17" "S-video" overhead monitor
- A VCR with local and remote control.
- C-arm Fluoroscopy if desired for spinal procedures.
- Extensive Microsurgical Instrumentation, microdissection kits and spine surgery instrument sets.
