  • At the American Association of Physicists in Medicine annual meeting in August, AtcharAtchar Sudhyadhom, PhD, at UF's Department of Neurosurgery, was awarded "Best in Physics Imaging" out of thousands of abstracts. He was featured at a special session of Best Papers across various portions of medical physics. His research is the basis of the advanced image-guided tools developed for the UF Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration team.

  • Rasheda May 25th 2011 marks "A Night of Champions" to celebrate the opening of the UF Center for Movement Disorders & Neurorestoration with guest speaker Rasheda Ali, author and advocate for Parkinson’s care and research.

  • This UF Department of Neurosurgerysimulator and the Center for Simulation, Safety & Advanced Learning Technologies contributed a UF-built ventriculostomy simulator to the Top Gun competition at the 78th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) in April. UF Faculty member Dr. Brian Hoh (below) as course director of: "Interventional Neurovascular Disease: Avoidance and Management Complication", Bridger Cox presented two lectures:
    1. Incidence of Seizures or Epilepsy after Clipping versus Coiling of Ruptured and Unruptured Cerebral Aneurysms in the Nationwide Inpatient Sample Database: 2002-2007.
    2. Incidence of Ventricular Shunt Placement for Hydrocephalus with Clipping versus Coiling for Ruptured and Unruptured Cerebral Aneurysms in the Nationwide Inpatient Sample Database: 2002-2007.

It is their highest award and has been awarded only one time before. The Academy is made up of neurosurgical chairman and academic leaders from leading medical centers in the world. Their 2009 meeting was held in September at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
